Baked Spaghetti Sauce
Recipe type: Italian
This is a super yummy and nutritious spaghetti sauce that stretches a long way!
  • 4 bell peppers - I like to use one green, one red, one yellow and one orange
  • 3-4 carrots
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic - crushed
  • 1 large bottle of V8
  • 1 large can tomato sauce
  • 1 large can tomato juice
  • 1 small can of tomato paste
  • 1 family pack of ground hamburger meat
  • your spices of choice - I use Italiano, Parsley, Mrs. Dash, Goya Adobo, Tex Mex seasonings, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper
  1. Cook the hamburger meat in batches since there is so much of it!
  2. Add spices to the meat while I am cooking it, so it absorbs some of the flavor.
  3. Chop up your veggies. I find easier and quicker to use a hand chopper to cut up the vegetables, this way they are all roughly the same size.
  4. In a LARGE OVEN SAFE POT, you can start adding the other liquid ingredients.
  5. Add the uncooked vegetables and cooked and strained hamburger to the pot and mix well.
  6. Add the other seasonings. I usually add about 3-4 tablespoons total of seasoning, however, as you stir it you will be able to adjust by adding more, if it is required.
  7. Place into the oven, preheated at 350 degrees for 4 hours.
  8. Stir and taste every hour and add more seasonings if required.
