Seasonal Switch Up

Seasonal Switch Up is in effect. We have had sun, and rain, in the last week which has restored my faith that SPRING IS COMING!!!! There IS a light at the end of the tunnel after what I would refer to as “Living in a Snow Globe”. This winter was pretty brutal with regards to the amount of snow that we accumulated! It literally snowed EVERY DAY!!!! All my husband can say that he did this winter was “clean the yard”.

But I digress, we have had multiple days of sunshine which sparks my “want” to change up some of our decorations! I love changing things up!!!!!!!!

Here are a few spots that I chose to do a Seasonal Switch Up. This is a little display that I have in our sun-room. This is typically where I put up our Christmas Tree and presents but after Christmas I switch it out for some more winter themed things. So this is the BEFORE…

So, in this display I have a light up tree, 2 white lanterns with candles that come on daily at the same time, a winter flower arrangement , a little polar bear, a fuzzy owl perched on a cedar tree stump with a red ribbon around it. Oh, and I cannot forget the white deer salt and pepper shaker and little moose equipped with a red hat!

AFTER swapping things out, this area now looks like this…

In this display, I took 3 tiered candle sticks and spaced them out. As you can see from the picture, I added 2 large green owls (side note: I love owls), one on each end to give it some dimension. I placed an old clock in the center and put 2 white candle holders, with timed candles inside for a wonderful glow at twilight into the evening, some greenery behind it all and finally a nest with eggs to finish off this look.

I love it!  It is so light, bright and airy! Most of the time I add things as I find them. Most of the decorations that I own have been found at dollar stores, garage sales, and second hand stores. In my experience, I can find such beautiful gems for a fraction of the cost!

Alright so that was one display, here is another. Both of these displays are seen from our couch so there always something cute to look at! The decorations sit on an old crate that I placed on its side and now I have extra storage inside the crate. Did you see the gorgeous foxes? Some of my favs!!! I love them so much, I haven’t put them away, I simply moved them to another area of the house so I can enjoy them a wee bit longer! I always have a branch that has LED lights in them so it acts as a night light. There is also some greenery around the bottom, some birch tree candles and a winter arrangement in the middle. So this is the BEFORE…

And this is the AFTER…

Seasonal Decor

I still feel like it’s still a little plain Jane but that just means I get to go searching for some new pieces to add!

UPDATE: So I went shopping and found some really unusual but FABULOUS greenery at a second hand store. Here is what it did for my display…

I really love how this elevated the whole display. It added some height and color which ties everything together!! Here is a closer look…

This is the BEFORE picture of our kitchen table. A simple black lantern filled with acorns and greenery and 2 white glittery tree candles!

Oh, I cannot forget the owl place mats…

I tried to capture the “glow” in the evening.

So that’s it for today. Any ideas to add to these displays, let me know!
