With summer fast approaching, we all find ourselves attending BBQ’s with family and friends while basking in the beautiful sunshine and warmer weather. Do you ever feel stuck at what to bring along with you, or what to serve with burgers from the BBQ? Well, this Sweet and Salty Coleslaw will pair perfectly with said hamburgers and hot dogs!!! It is also are great along side fish or chicken fingers!
This coleslaw recipe is crisp, fresh and tangy, also quick and easy! Less time preparing and more time enjoying our loved ones! What could be better???
Let’s prepare the dressing, shall we?
Sweet and Salty Coleslaw Dressing
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup oil (I prefer to use Olive Oil)
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp celery seed
Combine the dressing ingredients and set aside. No need to stir yet, as it will separate. Looks like alot of dressing, but keep in mind, this is will create a large bowl of coleslaw.
There are several coleslaw options out there for you to choose from. You can either shred your own green and purple cabbage and carrots or buy 2 bags of pre-cut coleslaw. You are looking for about 5-6 cups of raw coleslaw. Broccoli slaw also works beautifully with this dressing and adds a wonderful crunch factor! I love the vibrant color that it provides!
Now it’s time to stir in your dressing! Make sure to stir the dressing well before adding it to the salad, because, the sugar will settle at the bottom and we want to ensure you get the sweet AND salty experience! Combine when ready and mix well.
Go ahead and dress your coleslaw and stick it into the fridge, covered, until you are ready to serve.
Look at how delicious that looks!
A perfectly refreshing side dish for your next event!
